Share a credential

Give a teammate view or edit access to a stored secret — safely, with a full audit trail.

Starter and upUpdated 16 June 2026

Key Docker lets you grant access to a credential without ever pasting the password into chat. Access is requested and approved, and every reveal is logged.

Grant access directly

  1. Open the credential you own from Key Docker.
  2. In the Sharing panel, search for a teammate.
  3. Choose their access level:
    • Can view — reveal and copy the secret.
    • Can edit — also update or rotate it.
  4. (Optional) Set the access to expire — ideal for contractors.

The request-and-approve flow

Teammates can also request access themselves:

  1. They open the credential and click Request access.
  2. You (the owner) get a notification and approve or decline with one tap.
  3. On approval, the credential appears in their vault — and the grant is logged.

Reducing or revoking access is always allowed. Granting new access is part of team sharing, which is included on Starter and above.

Every share and reveal is recorded — see audit history.
